Also, I suppose it is OK to substitute other white fish for pomfret, since it is not that easy to get pomfret here. I personally really love pomfret, either just shallow pan fried, or shallow pan fried with a green chutney in the middle.samirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15526113139239357402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6117006110495922887.post-2091334669786484612010-11-26T22:33:44.763-08:002010-11-26T22:33:44.763-08:00Yummy kebabs Shilpi! Believe me if the quality of fish is really good then it is very tasty and quite light on the stomach.Shilpi Bosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17815522172951304358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6117006110495922887.post-32563894097967041852010-11-18T06:08:45.922-08:002010-11-18T06:08:45.922-08:00@Sharmi:Lovely,would love to know how it turns out...@Sharmi:Lovely,would love to know how it turns out.Shilpi Bosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17815522172951304358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6117006110495922887.post-55878878770431027342010-11-17T08:13:12.319-08:002010-11-17T08:13:12.319-08:00Oh wow..this is very similar to the way I make mut...Oh wow..this is very similar to the way I make mutton kebabs. Will try with fish too next time.
Re to your comment: I also always thought that bhapa ilish is only made with mustard unless I actually saw my MIL making it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6117006110495922887.post-89147742048574011632010-11-17T05:26:08.790-08:002010-11-17T05:26:08.790-08:00That sounds very nice, and very like my mother'...That sounds very nice, and very like my mother's shammi kababs. Even my parents don't eat mutton very frequently now - in fact, only at Christmas, when we visit, and then my mum always makes shammi kababs!
Incidentally, my mum used to make fish kababs too, but slightly differently. She would boil the fish and mash it, then mix with mashed potato, fried onion and garlic, a little chopped mint or coriander, and a little powdered garam masala. Then shape into cakes and fry.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6117006110495922887.post-48361351038143265552010-11-17T04:30:58.238-08:002010-11-17T04:30:58.238-08:00im trying this out soon. :)im trying this out soon. :)Sharmi Adhikaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15083912570793692960noreply@blogger.com
