Spring is round the corner, there is a festive air everywhere, this is the season for festivals like Makar Sankranti, Saraswati Puja, Pongal and so on; this festivals are nothing but harvest festivals therefore grains and seasonal vegetables feature prominently in these festivals. Given the fact that Indrani’s event Spotlight: Winter Vegetables is still on and one of the conditions of participating in the event is that archived entries have to be re-posted, I have decided to re-post some of my earlier posts; after all some of my earlier posts are meant for this season, particularly the Ber Chutney.
All the dishes you see here were cooked by my mother, Ma cooked root vegetables like beetroot and radish only during winter. This was the time when she also made guava jelly.
